Mr. Bumble flew right into my heart and I love him, so much.  He deserves the best home!  He was made specifically for someone who respects and adores everything about bumblebees, the twists and turns life takes you and being there for your family!

Description of “Mr. Bumble”

Carved with care into piece of my rare, heritage, apricot wood!  Mr. Bumble is inspired by the beauty of life and family.   Accompanied with an intricate honeycomb, you get the sense of belonging from Mr. Bumble as he travels home to his family with pollen stuck to his legs!

Mr. Bumble is one of those pieces that I can’t help but love!  I’ve never been one of those crazy, cool people who love bumblebees, but when I saw this piece of heritage apricot, my mind just wouldn’t let it go!  It just had to be a bee!  

Originally, I was going to create Mr. Bumble as a statement piece where it was strictly the bee.  No other flourishes or accents or anything taking away from the intricacies of a bumblebee.  However, my plan changed.  I had no idea how I was going to create the uniformity, but I was determined to make it work!  

Mr. Bumble and I had our difficulties, but we finally came to an understanding when I began the varnishing process!  

If you’ll take note, I really wanted the design of Mr. Bumble to be black.  I’ve worked with apricot before, specifically on the Sean Corcoran Video Sign.  I knew it was going to be a stunning, vibrant orange color after applying the oil-base varnish, and I really, really wanted it to be contrasted.  

Typically, I don’t go heavy on my varnish and I do a wipe-off after application to keep it even.  But, I went against my nature and put it in heavy.  As you can see in the video, it got everywhere!  I love the end result and couldn’t have asked for it to go any better.  

Mr. Bumble’s Perfect Warp!

There is one thing I feel should be addressed about Mr. Bumble though.  If you are looking for a “perfect” or “uniform” piece, he is not for you.  The shape of Mr. Bumble is kind of in a wave-like fashion and he has a bit of a twisted warp.  It’s not bad and he obviously still hangs on the wall beautifully!  I think it’s perfect for the message of the piece and wouldn’t have it any other way!  With that said, he doesn’t hang completely flush with the wall.
